About the Waterways
Douglas Lake is a manmade lake just 15-20 minutes from the Sevierville and Pigeon Forge Parkways, in most cases. It was created in 1943 and includes a dam (Douglas Dam) that helps control flooding and controls lake levels.

Some parts of the Douglas shorelines are privately owned, but there are also many parts that are open to the public.

Douglas Lake is known for its excellent freshwater fishing, and it ranks in the top 10 bass and top 5 crappie fishing lakes in the U.S. You can also fish for many types of catfish, sauger, bluegill, walleye, red breast sunfish, and red horse.

You can rent a boat or bring your own, jet ski, water ski, pull floats, swim and many other fun water activities. Many people like to stay at the campgrounds, and there are marinas and several supply stores surrounding the lake.

The Little Pigeon River winds and runs throughout Sevier County, providing a refuge for the large variety of wildlife, as well as excellent fishing spots, especially for anglers. There are many historic landmarks along the river, including The Old Mill, The Harrisburg Covered Bridge, and Locust Ridge just to name a few.

Roaring Fork Stream is a hearty mountain stream that flows into Gatlinburg from the Great Smoky Mountains and flows through the historic beginnings of Gatlinburg. If you drive on The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, you will see why it is named as it is! It is one of the most beautiful drives you can take in the Smoky Mountains, and filled with the history of the beginnings of Gatlinburg itself.
